For tough jobs it can’t hold a candle to the 997r. They are worlds apart in power, but worlds apart in price too. I get around 1.1 - 1.3 gallons per hour with the 997r. Reverse bias doesn't allow current to flow. So it appears to be just get a new diode and see if it works. But I know from past experience that Nothing is ever that easy with electronic equipment.
