Mar 12, 2008 · I have a deere 318 with an onan engine after it runs for like 5 minutes it will just die like you turned it off by the key due to no spark.After it sets for about 20 minutes it will have spark and it will run. I'm pretty sure the red wire is always hot, so you do not need to have the key on. To jump it, you need to get 12V to wherever the start signal wire attaches to the solenoid. It's purple on my tractor, but I am not sure about the 318. This is usually very easily done with a screw driver between the red wire and the start signal wire.
