Hi everyone this is my 4th pregnancy and I went to my 38wk appt today..no progression since my last appt since I am only 1cm dilated and was told my cervix is still long/thick. I am suppose to get induced at 39wks since I am 39yrs old and a prior induction with my last one due to low fluid.Oct 3, 2019 · Following. If it’s nice and thin it might be better. BUT cervixes can thin out very quickly with nice contractions. We call this effacement (and we usually measure it in a percent — so they’ll say your cervix is 50% effaced). Honestly, anything less than about 70% is still pretty thick.Even at week 38, they’re set to do it all. Nevertheless, waiting 60 to 90 seconds to clamp the umbilical cord will give them a boost of extra blood, oxygen, iron, and stem cells. Mar 15, 2012 · A sweep really is only going to do something if your body just needs a small nudge...and that's unlikely at 38 weeks. Plus if you aren't needing to be induced immediately it makes no sense to try to get things going. Getting a sweep at 38 weeks is not unheard of. In fact, it's a lot more common than you think.
