When you calibrate, make sure you select "I understand" and then "confirm" the new calibration and it will set the readings to be closer to your actual blood...The one time that happened with me (saying the calibration was in progress for a long time), I just ignored the “in progress” notification and entered a new finger stick value in the Calibration option.
