I called from the Star Princess in Alaska a few weeks ago (while at sea) and was charged $22 for a 9 minute call. I was charged $4.14 for a 6 minute call in Victoria. Calls are $2.29per minute incoming and outgoing.. and are charged even if you miss the call (so turn your phone OFF when not in use). Incoming txt are free.. $.50 per txt outgoing. DATA is very expensive, so do not send photos etc. and turn off you email. Data starts at $24.99 for 20mb.. but you have to sign up ahead of time as well.

At sea however you will pay both the cruise line for using their cell service AND you will also pay the outrageous international roaming rates charged by you cell phone carrier .....You get full use of phone, text messages and data at your normal plan rates.
